November harvest

I was back in Ft Worth a couple of weeks later, in early November, once the real digging had begun. On that trip I rented a pick up truck and got about 4,000 – 5,000 lbs of clay. There were two visibly different clays accessible by the digging machines, so I was able to get a truck load of each. Also some smaller amounts of clay from big drilling augers that were going down about 20′ and coming out caked in white clay. The clay was dropped into the truck bed by the machines, and then shoveled out by me into big plastic buckets at the storage locker. It was a good  and weird form of exercise, that had the storage security guy do a few golf cart drive bys to try to figure out what I was up to.
