Clay #3, harvested in November 2010, at the same time as #2, but from a different spot on the site, is browner than #2, and has different characteristics. At cone 5 it fires to a white / grey color. At cone 10 it goes more greenish and cracks apart (see the last picture for cone 10 pot). It casted okay, and felt fine to throw, but in both cases after it was fired and sat for a while the pieces start to flake and shale more than clay #2, and eventually they more or less fall apart. I have about 2,000 lbs of this clay as well.
